Adji G Rinepta, Jogja – Hundreds of students from the Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University Alliance (UMY) held a protest action at the Zero Kilometre Point in the Central Java city of Yogyakarta this afternoon.

The majority of them wore red jackets and crowded into the Zero Kilometre intersection until road access was closed off by police.

Surabaya – Students protesting a number of government policies crowded on to Jalan Gubernur Suryo to hold a demonstration in front of the Grahadi State Building (governor's office) in Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday June 17.

The students came from various campuses across Surabaya including the Airlangga University (Unair), the East Java Veteran National Development University (UPN), the Surabaya State University (Unesa) and the Surabaya Muhammadiyah University (Umsura), as well as the Surabaya Student Executive Council (BEM) Alliance and other student organisations.

Makassar – The Student Executive Council (BEM) from the Makassar State University (UNM) in South Sulawesi believes the Republic of Indonesia is currently in a state of decline due to President Prabowo Subianto's numerous policies that are not pro-people.

The students held a demonstration in front of the UNM campus, blocking roads by high jacking a container truck and burning used tyres, causing traffic a jam on Jalan AP Pettarani.

The protesters carried posters and banners with demands related to the rising price of basic commodities, the high cost of living and an evaluation of several government policies.
