Kid: How come your political party isn’t setting up disaster relief coordination posts like before?
Man: What for? The elections are over don’t you know.
With the legislative and presidential elections now over, the political parties are showing little interest in setting up disaster relief coordination posts to ‘help’ victims of the massive earthquake that struck West Java last week.
While rescuers are continuing to search for dozens of people buried by the quake which killed at least 63 people and left thousands of people homeless, anger is mounting at the slow response from authorities with local people saying the only assistance to have arrived came a day after the quake and they are still lacking medical supplies and materials for temporary shelters.
