Ihsanuddin, Jakarta – On Wednesday April 17 the Indonesian Lawyers Association in America (IALA) submitted an amicus curiae in relation to the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres) dispute hearings currently taking place at the Constitutional Court.

IALA representative Bhirawa Jayasidayatra said that the submission of the friends of the court document was done based on a study conducted by IALA on fraud in the 2024 elections.

Dani Prabowo, Jakarta – The chairperson of Centra Initiative and Indonesian Human Rights Watch (Imparsial) senior researcher, Al Araf, says that the reuse of the term Free Papua Organisation or OPM will not solve the problems or the conflict in Papua.

"In fact, it will tends to have an impact on the stigmatisation of the people in Papua, and the tendency to use an approach of military operations in overcoming [the problems in Papua]", said Araf said when contacted on Tuesday April 16.

Ihsanuddin, Jakarta – On Tuesday April 16 the faculty of Law Student Executive Councils (BEM FH) from the Gajah Mada University (UGM), the Diponegoro University (Undip), the Padjadjaran University and the Airlangga University submitted amici curiae related to the 2024 presidential election dispute currently being heard by the Constitutional Court.

The commissioner for movement affairs from the UGM Student Judicial Board, Muhammad Emir Bernadine, stated that one of the recommendations conveyed in the amici curiae was that the Constitutional Court annul the 2024 election result.

Diamanty Meiliana, Jakarta – The issue of a people's tribunal or pengadilan rakyat has come up again following the 2024 elections that were allegedly marred by election fraud.

Historian Asvi Warman Adam believes that there is a possibility of a people's tribunal being replicated, as was once held in 2015 in the context of humanitarian crimes committed in 1965, to prosecute fraud in the elections even though the scale of the court would not have to on an international level.
