Jakarta – Hundreds of students from a number of universities in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) held a demonstration in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building today to call in the fulfilment of the 17+8 People's Demands issued during the previous wave of demonstrations on August 25-31.

Based on monitoring at the location, the action was held at around 3 pm. Students came wearing their campus alma mater jackets with a number of banners and billboards. Participants in the action were dominated by students from the University of Indonesia (UI), the Jakarta Syarief Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) and the National Student Front (FMN).

Robertus Belarminus, Jakarta – Amnesty International Indonesia Executive Director Usman Hamid says that the investigation into the 2004 assassination of renewed human rights activists Munir Said Thalib is very important in order to cleanse the state of evil people who abuse power.

This was conveyed by Hamid in a speech at a protest action titled "A Call for a Mass Solidarity Action 21 Years since the Munir Murder Case #UsutTuntas" (#FullyInvestigate) in front of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) offices in Central Jakarta on Monday September 8.

Jessi Carina, Jakarta – The case of the murder of renowned human rights activist Munir Said Talib has entered its 21st year.

Munir died on September 7, 2004 while on a flight from Jakarta to Amsterdam. The investigation results showed that Munir was poisoned using arsenic on the flight. To this day however, the principle mastermind of the murder has never been tried.
