Jakarta – Four defendants who are being tried in Jakarta on charges of allegedly inciting the August 2025 demonstrations plan to go on a hunger strike until the entire trial process concludes.

Lokataru Foundation Director Delpedro Marhaen, who is one of the defendants, said the action is a form of protest against the panel of judges who have not responded to their request for a suspension of detention.

Adhyasta Dirgantara, Ardito Ramadhan, Jakarta – Adi Prayitno, a political observer from the Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic State University (UIN) in Jakarta, says there is an impression that the political elite are afraid of the ordinary people, which is why they are floating the idea of electing regional heads (Pilkada) through Regional Representative Councils (DPRD).

Prayitno suspects the reason is that the public often "punishes" a particular politician or party by not voting for them during elections.

Jakarta – A chicken carcass was sent to the home of Greenpeace Indonesia Climate and Energy Campaign Manager Iqbal Damanik on Tuesday December 30. The carcass was found on the porch on Tuesday morning without any packaging.

Tucked to the chicken's feet was a plastic bag containing a piece of paper bearing the message: "WATCH YOUR TALK IF YOU WANT TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY, YOUR MOUTH IS YOUR OWN WORST ENEMY".
