Instead of addressing the concerns of minority religious groups amid a rising tide of intolerance across the country – a direct result of his own government pandering to violent hardline Islamic groups – speaking at of a Christmas commemoration in North Sulawesi President Widodo lectured the audience on the need for national pride and to eliminate poverty through hard work, honesty and justice, stressing that the real enemy facing the nation was corruption.
