Paulus Pulo, Sorong – The police have named four people suspects on charges of alleged makar (treason, subversion, rebellion) who have admitted to be leading members of the Federal Republic of West Papua (NRFPB) after they visited a number of government offices and police stations in Sorong City, Southwest Papua province. The four suspects each have the initials AGG, PR, MS and NM.

"Yes, it's true a case presentation has been held and there are four people who have officially become suspects in the NFRPB case", Sorong City District Police Chief (Kapolresta) Senior Commissioner Happy Perdana told journalists on Tuesday April 29.

Perdana said that the four were declared suspects after investigators held a case presentation on Monday May 28 at around 4 pm local time. The four suspects are still undergoing further questioning.

"After we declared them suspects in the future a number of other stages will be pursued to develop the case", he said.

Perdana said that investigators had also secured a number of pieces evidence including the uniform style clothing worn by the suspects.

Earlier it was reported that a group of people claiming to be NRFPB officials were being closely monitored after visiting a number of government offices and a police stations in Sorong City. They are were threatened with being charged with makar.

According to information compiled by Detik.com, on Monday April 14 the NRFPB group visited the Sorong City mayor's office, the South-West Papua governor's office, the South-West Papua Papua People's Council (MRP) offices, the South-West Papua Regional Policer Air and Water Police Directorate and the Sorong City District Police. They claimed to be delivering a letter from the NRFPB president.

There were two letters that they claimed to have brought with them. Namely related to peaceful negotiations and a three party round table conference (RTC).

Meanwhile in the video that has been circulating, a number of people can be seen in camouflage uniforms and official clothing with berets on their heads escorting someone suspected of being a NRFPB senior official wearing blue batik. They could be seen visiting a number of offices in Southwest Papua.

The person suspected of being a senior official appeared to be carrying a number of folders in their hand. At the end of the video, they called for "Papua Independence". (hsr/hsr)
