Jakarta – A rally by protesters from the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) in Jayapura, Papua, was forcibly and violently broken up by police on Monday August 16. Two people were injured after being allegedly struck by rattan sticks.

Jakarta – Jakarta State University (UNJ) sociologist Ubedilah Badrun has criticised the actions of authorities in removing murals containing social criticisms of the government such as a mural depicting President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo with the message "404: Not Found" in Tangerang and a mural reading "Forced to be well in a country that is sick"

Jakarta – Artist Dinar Candy held a protest action over the extension of Enforcement of Restrictions on Public Activities (PPKM) by wearing a bikini on the side of a road in Jakarta. During the action, Candy also brought a banner with the message, "I'm stressed out because the PPKM has been extended".

Jayapura – A number of demonstrators from the People's Front Against Special Autonomy Chapter II were reportedly arrested and taken to the Sorong city municipal police headquarters when they wanted to hold a peaceful demonstration in front of the Sorong Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) on Monday July 19.

Agus Pabika, Jayapura – As many as 40 protesters opposing the extension of Papua special autonomy at the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta were arrested by police and taken away in two crowd control vehicles to the Metro Jaya regional police headquarters.

Jakarta – Around 23 Cendrawasih University (Uncen) students at several different locations were arrested by police when they held a protest action on Tuesday July 14 opposing the extension of special autonomy in Papua.

Jakarta – The University of Gajah Mada (UGM) Student Executive Council (BEM) has dubbed President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as the "(Most) New Order" president, alluding to the New Order regime of former president Suharto. This was conveyed by the UGM BEM to coincide with Widodo's 60th birthday which fell on June 21.

Jakarta – Amnesty International Indonesia Executive Director Usman Hamid has challenged President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo to prove that he is not the "King of Lip Service" as he was dubbed in a recent Twitter posting by the University of Indonesia (UI) Student Executive Council (BEM).

Jakarta – Forty-four Student Executive Councils (BEM) from several different campuses along with a number of civil society organisations have slammed the University of Indonesia (UI) authorities for summoning UI BEM representatives over a Twitter posting criticising President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
