Jakarta – Students in Greater Bandung held a demonstration in front of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) building on Monday afternoon June 15. The protesters conveyed a number of demands related to current social conditions and government policies.

One of the representatives of the protesters, Abdurrahman Muhammad Abdul Malik Albarakati, from the Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung State Islamic University (UIN), said that their presence at the West Java DPRD was to convey the people's aspirations which so far have not received any attention.

Rika Ira – The increase in the price of non-subsidized Pertamax fuel (BBM) amidst the weakening of the economy has triggered student demonstrations. In Central Java, student protests were held in three areas, namely Banyumas, Semarang City and Solo.

This demonstration were also triggered by the revelation of corrupt practices in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program which has sucked up a large allocation from the state budget (APBN).

Yogyakarta – Hundreds of students and civil society groups in the Central Java city of Yogyakarta calling themselves the People's Calling Alliance (Aliansi Rakyat Memanggil) held a demonstration at the Gejayan intersection in Depok, Sleman, on Saturday afternoon June 13.

The crowd were observed to begin gathering at the location at around 3.30 pm local as the rain that had been pouring down since midday began to subside.
