Irfan Kamil, Jessi Carina, Jakarta – Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Chairperson Muhammad Isnur has criticised the upholding of human rights and democracy in the first year of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Isnur said that throughout the first year of the administration many incidents occurred that showed the decline of democracy, restrictions on civil liberties and violations of human rights. "A critical evaluation, firstly, it appears that Prabowo has no interest or concern over the issues of democracy, human rights and civil policy", Isnur told Kompas.com on Sunday October 19.

Silpester Kasipka, Jayapura – The Papuan Journalist Justice and Safety Advocacy Coalition (KAKKJ) held a peaceful action in front of the Jubi media editorial offices on Jalan SPG Taruna Bakti in Waena, Jayapura city, on Thursday October 16.

The solidarity action was held to mark one year since of the Molotov cocktail firebomb attack on the Jubi offices, which occurred exactly one year ago. Jubi Editor-in-Chief Jean Bisay said the commemoration was a form of appeal to law enforcement officials to immediately complete the investigation into the violence against the media in Papua.

Jakarta – The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) is collaborating with a number of social or mass organisations (ormas) to help maintain security and order in Jakarta.

Thousands of members of these ormas attended a public order and security (kamtibmas) assembly at the Metro Jaya Headquarters on Wednesday October 15th as part of the "Jakarta Watch" (Jaga Jakarta) program.

Jakarta – A group of mothers, young people and women who are members of the Voices of Indonesian Mothers (Suara Ibu Indonesia) are urging the government to halt the free nutritious meals (MBG) program following cases of mass poisoning in various regions.

They held a demonstration in front of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) offices in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday October 15. Monitoring at the location showed that the demonstrators carried banners with various messages.
