Chaos in Bandung after protesters force their way into governor's office

Bandung – A demonstration in front of the Gedung Sate building in Bandung on Friday August 29 turned chaotic after protesters succeeded in breaking through the main gate to the West Java provincial government building.

The incident occurred at around 10.15 pm when hundreds of demonstrators who had earlier been protesting at the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) moved to Gedung Sate building, the West Java governor's office. The two buildings are a stone's throw away on Jalan Diponegoro in Bandung city.

3 dead after parliament building catches fire during protest in Makassar

Jakarta – Three people died after the Makassar Regional House of Representative (DPRD) offices in South Sulawesi caught fire during a protest against the national House of Representatives (DPR) on Friday night August 29.

The number of victims has been confirmed by the head of the Makassar City Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Dahyal.

Simon Selly – A student demonstration in Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), took place in front of the NTT Regional Police Headquarters on Saturday evening August 30. During the demonstration, the crowd voiced their aspirations regarding a number of national and local issues.

The demonstration began at around 5.30 pm with the crowd moving along one lane of Jalan Jenderal Soeharto. Despite this, traffic was only congested briefly due to the diversion. Several vehicles were blocked but traffic moved smoothly in the lane that remained open.

Ayuningtias Puji Lestari, Palangka Raya – A demonstration held in front of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police Headquarters (Mapolda) has continued until Friday evening August 29. Several participants were injured during the action. Police have been urged to take responsibility and refrain from repressive actions.

The protesters, calling themselves the Total Police Revolution Alliance (Rekontal), have been demonstrating since around 1.30 pm in front of the Regional Police HQ. The participants at the action included students, the Palangka Raya Motorcycle Taxi (Ojol) Alliance, the Student Alliance and civil society activists.
