Jakarta – Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) General Chairperson Megawati Sukarnoputri has condemned the United States military intervention in Venezuela because it seen as a serious threat to the sovereignty of sovereign nations.

"The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle condemns every form of United States military intervention in Venezuela, including the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife through a military operation which has sparked international condemnation", said Megawati in a speech commemorating the 53rd anniversary of the PDI-P and the opening of the 2026 First National Working Meeting at the Beach City International Ancol Stadium in North Jakarta on Saturday January 10 as reported by the state news agency Antara.

According to Megawati, this unilateral act of aggression seriously harms the spirit of world peace as stated in the United Nations Charter.

Aside from this, the concept of neo-colonialism is very contradictory to the country because Indonesia has a long history of fighting all forms of colonialism since the 1955 Asian-African Conference (KAA).

"This action represents a form of modern neo-colonialism and imperialism, which denies the United Nations Charter and the basic principles of relations between nations", said Megawati

"The Indonesian nation rejects the international order that justifies the domination of power over the sovereignty of other nations", she asserted.

Therefore, the PDI-P is officially calling for all global conflicts to be resolved at the diplomatic table. Megawati believes that violence can never be a solution to build civilisation or democracy.

"True democracy is not born from the muzzle of a gun, justice does not grow from unilateral aggression, and civilisation is not built on insults to the dignity of the nation", said Megawati.

Satyam Eva Jayate

At the series of events during the PDI-P's 53rd anniversary and National Working Meeting I, the PDI-P National Leadership Board (DPP) took up the theme "Satyam Eva Jayate" with the sub-theme "There I Stand, Forever".

Satyam Eva Jayate is a slogan in Sanskrit that means "The Truth Will Prevail".

Meanwhile, "There I Stand, Forever" is taken from the Indonesian National Anthem Indonesia Raya by W.R. Supratman which describes the resilience that accompanies Satyam Eva Jayate.
