Jakarta – The Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS) Central Leadership Board (DPP) supports Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 111/2025 on General National Defence Policy for 2025-2029, which regulates various forms of non-military threats to the state.

PKS President Al Muzammil Yusuf said that the pro-lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) ideology, which is considered a non-military threat in the Presidential Decree, is contrary to the first and second principles of the state ideology Pancasila.

According to Al Muzammil, there is no religion in Indonesia that legalises LGBTQ practices.

"Under the Pancasila corridor, LGBTQ campaigns clearly contradict the first principle, Belief in One Almighty God, and the second principle, A Just and Civilised Humanity", said Al Muzammil in a statement on Monday July 6.

He is of the view that the anti-LGBTQ campaign is also in accordance with Article 31 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, which requires the state to implement an education system that increases faith, piety and noble morals.

According to Al Muzammil, the PKS has taken a firm stance in rejecting the LGBTQ campaign as a world movement, including the notion of free sex. The PKS, he continued, will not normalise this campaign in the public sphere and legislation.

"Moreover we encourage the need for clear regulations regarding the prohibition of LGBTQ propaganda in Indonesia", he said.

As a form of support, Al Muzammil said that his party would also instruct all its cadres, especially in regional executive ranks, to implement Presidential Decree 111 through regional regulations.

"I call on PKS public officials in the executive and legislative branches to oversee the implementation of this Perpres, and can even strengthen it by issuing a regional regulations that prohibit LGBTQ campaigns", he said.

The government has issued Presidential Decree Number 111/2025 in October last year, which regulates a number of classifications of threats to the country, including the spread of LGBTQ culture which is included in the non-military threat category.

This presidential decree includes, among other things, the spread of prohibited ideologies, separatism, terrorism, radicalism, online gambling, illegal online loans, illegal trade, narcotics abuse and the spread of LGBTQ culture as part of non-military threats. (thr/isn)
