Protesting workers who are part of the Labour Movement with the People (GEBRAK) held a protest action at the Horse Statue near the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Thursday September 4.

This afternoon, the demonstrators appeared to fill the Medan Merdeka Selatan road in the direction of Gambir train station. Earlier, they held long-march from the Thamrin business district to the Horse Statue.

Responding to the brutality of security forces in responding to demonstrations in Sorong and Manokwari which resulted in one local resident being shot and one person being killed, Amnesty International Indonesia's Executive Director Usman Hamid said:

"We strongly condemn the brutality of security forces during the demonstrations in Sorong and Manokwari. No one should lose their life or be injured simply for participating in a demonstration or witnessing a demonstration expressing an opinion while in the vicinity of a demonstration.

Jakarta – The Indonesian Women's Alliance (API) held a peaceful demonstration in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday September 3. According to CNN Indonesia's monitoring, they held a demonstration right in front of the main gate to the parliament complex.

The protesters wore uniform pink clothing. Numerous groups were also seen distributing free food and drinks to protesters. There were around a hundred protesters who were present at the location, which was dominated by women.
