The General Elections Commission (KPU) has officially declared that 17 political parties will contest the 2024 legislative and presidential elections based on the results of a provincial level verification and recapitulation which was concluded on December 14.
The 17 political parties are made up of the nine parliamentary parties that are automatically eligible to take part in the elections plus eight non-parliamentary parties that passed the factual verification stage.
Six local Acehnese political parties were also declared eligible to take part in elections for the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) at the municipal, regency and provincial level in Aceh.
The parties now have until May 14 to select and register 580 legislative candidates for the national House of Representatives (DPR), 2,372 candidates for provincial legislatures and 17,510 for municipal and district legislature.
The 17 national political parties and six local Acehnese parties contesting the elections are:
1. The National Awakening Party (Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa, PKB)
2. The Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Partai Gerakan Indonesia Raya, Gerindra)
3. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (Partai Demokrasi Indonesia Perjuangan, PDI-P)
4. The Functional Group Party (Partai Golongan Karya, Golkar)
5. The National Democrat Party (Partai Nasional Demokrat, Nasdem)
6. The Labour Party (Partai Buruh)
7. The Indonesian People's Wave Party (Partai Gelombang Rakyat Indonesia, Gelora)
8. The Justice and Prosperity Party (Partai Keadilan Sejahtera, PKS)
9. The National Awakening Party (Partai Kebangkitan Nasional, PKN)
10. The People's Conscience Party (Partai Hati Nurani Rakyat, Hanura)
11. The Indonesian Reform Movement Party (Partai Gerakan Perubahan Indonesia, Garuda)
12. The National Mandate Party (Partai Amanat Nasional, PAN)
13. The Star Crescent Party (Partai Bulan Bintang, PBB)
14. The Democrat Party (Partai Demokrat)
15. The Indonesian Solidarity Party (Partai Solidaritas Indonesia, PSI)
