Civil Society Coalition launches Kecurangan Pemilu to monitor 2024 elections – January 7, 2024 (Istimewa)

Muhammad Ridwan – A coalition of civil society groups has launched a new platform (Election Fraud) as a public monitoring vehicle to monitor the 2024 legislative and presidential elections so that they proceed honestly and fairly.

Members of the public who find cases of alleged election fraud can make a report through the website.

" is a joint vehicle for the public to monitor the organisation of the 2024 simultaneous elections so that they can run democratically", said activist Feri Amsari in the Menteng suburb of Central Jakarta on Sunday January 7.

Amsari explained that awareness about the organisation of the festival of democracy (as the elections are known) is inseparable from the fraud committed by many parties. Therefore, it must be a shared obligation to gather and expose fraud that occurs in a structured, systematic and massive manner for all Indonesians.

"Because Bawaslu [the Election Supervisory Board] cannot work alone, it needs public awareness so that the 2024 elections run fairly", he asserted.

From the results of an initial investigation, the group has released a list of alleged potential fraud related to the appointment of acting regional heads as well as state apparatus in the regions.

"The other day village head supported President Jokowi [Joko Widodo] serving a third term. Now village heads have switched to supporting a certain pair of candidates", said Amsari referring to the presidential ticket of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and Widodo's eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The website was established by the Indonesian Justice Lovers Foundation, the Themis Indonesia Law Firm, the Indonesia Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI), Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW), Drone Emprit and the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem).
