Hanifah Salsabila, Faieq Hidayat, Jakarta – Police raided a gay sex party at a hotel in the Setiabudi area of South Jakarta on Sunday May 25.
Setiabudi Sectoral Police Chief (Kapolsek) Police Commissioner Firman said that nine men were arrested during the raid on the hotel room. Only one however with the initials DRH (33) has been charged. "They all had the status of not being married yet, all of them were men", said Firman during a press conference at his office on Tuesday May 27.
Firman said the uncovering of the case began with a public report of a gay sex party in a hotel, which police then followed up on. Upon arriving at the location, the police found 17 men going in and out of the hotel room in groups. "There was a sex party there. We found nine men there", he said.
The suspect DRH, he said, rented a hotel room for 1,179,750 rupiah through an app, then the perpetrator contacted his friends and invited them to come to the hotel room. "For us we will impose (punishment) on the provider who provided the place, facilitated (the activity)", said Firman.
Meanwhile, the eight other men who were arrested with the initials WG (36), AS (33), A (33), DH (25), PSJ (39), DJ (29), ED (39) and AS (41) were sent home and their status is only as witnesses.
The police also confiscated evidence, namely, four contraceptives, two bottles of lubricant gel, one glass bottle of poppers, two pairs of underwear, one white sheet and one white bathrobe.
For his actions, the perpetrator DRH has been charged under Article 33 in conjunction with Article 7 of Law Number 44/2008 on Pornography and/or Article 296 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), which are subject to a sentence of up to 15 years in prison or a fine of 7.5 billion rupiah.
