Jakarta – National Police chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has caught wind of espionage activities involving refugees, foreign workers (TKA) and foreign tourists coming to Indonesia.
"That they don't just come in as refugees or tourists. But on the other hand, they are also spies that may possibly be encouraged by a country to enter Indonesia", Prabowo said at a 2025 Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Institutions (Kemenimipas) coordinating meeting in Jakarta on Monday August 4.
Prabowo said all parties must remain vigilant regarding the increasing number of foreign workers and tourists visiting Indonesia. He said that this situation cannot be separated from the global uncertainty that is raging today.
Prabowo said there were suspicions that they are being sent to Indonesia to read the conditions in the country. "Even doing things that will certainly have an impact on domestic security instability", he said.
He said each country has its own interests, one of which is protecting and securing its territory. Apart from that, there are also countries that have an interest in making other countries weaker.
"And of course, we have to be on guard against that", he said. (fra/mnf/fra)
