Banda Aceh – The Head of the Banda Aceh Inspectorate, identified as FD (58) and a student with the initials AM (22) have been named suspects in a case of same sex relations or gay sex. The alleged same sex relations took place in an office.
FD and AM are currently being detained for the next 20 days at the Banda Aceh Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and the Banda Aceh Wilayatul Hisbah (WH, religious police) offices for further investigation. AM is known to be a student at a private university in Banda Aceh.
The head of the Banda Aceh WA and Satpol PP, M. Rizal, stated that his office named them suspects after finding evidence that they violated Islamic law.
The two are suspected of violating Qanun (Bylaw) Number 12/2025 on Amendments to Aceh Qanun Number 6/2014 on the Islamic Criminal Code (Hukum Jinayat).
"We have named both of them as suspects based on the evidence and witnesses we have gathered", Rizal told reporters on Tuesday August 18.
Rizal mentioned that one of the pieces of evidence seized was a folding mattress and an oral device in FD's office. "One of the pieces of evidence is a folding mattress along with other items", he said.
Rizal said the case began with a report of a stranger entering FD's office outside of working hours. Upon receiving the report, the Sharia Police immediately deployed a team to investigate.
Officers then found FD and AM in the same room with the folding mattress and oral device. They then took them to the Satpol PP and WA offices.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Banda Aceh Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM), Emila Sovayana, confirmed that FD had been temporarily suspended from his position as head of the Banda Aceh Inspectorate after being named a suspect.
She also stated that FD is suspected of committing a serious violation of civil servant discipline in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) 94/2021.
"After a police report was made by the Satpol PP investigators and he was named a suspect for alleged serious civil servant disciplinary violations in accordance with PP 94/2021 on civil servants he has been temporarily suspended from his duties", said Sovayana. (kid/dra/kid)
