Fitria Chusna Farisa, Jakarta – The government plans to start the construction of the new capital city (IKN) mega-project "Nusantara" in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, in mid-2022.

Jakarta – Abandoned mining pits in East Kalimantan have already claimed many lives. Based on a report in 2021, forty people have died as a result of the mining pits, including in areas where the new capital city will be built.

Nada Zeitalini Arani, Jakarta – People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, who is also the Deputy Chairperson of the Pancasila Youth, is urging social organisations such as the Pancasila Youth to play a part in ensuring the success of the construction of the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan.

Jakarta – A number of national figures have criticised the project to move the state capital (IKN) to East Kalimantan as envisaged by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo  Among the figures who have loudly criticised the project are economist Faisal Basri and former Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Vitorio Mantalean, Jakarta – The Nusantara Traditional Community Alliance (AMAN) estimates that around 20,000 people from traditional communities will be sacrificed by the project to move the state capital (IKN) to East Kalimantan.

Jakarta – The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) has outlined at least three environmental problems found from the results of a Strategic Environmental Study (KLHS) on Indonesia's proposed site for a new capital city (IKN) in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan.
