We understand that history is a complex narrative. However, the title of "national hero" is the nation's highest honour, acknowledging the values of heroism, exemplary behaviour, the struggle for justice and humanity, and sacrifices for the benefit of the people.

Christ Belseran, Kendari, Medan and Melbourne – Waves of solidarity actions for Tempo and press freedom in Indonesia resounded from various quarters, from Kendari to Medan and Melbourne Australia.

The actions were held to oppose the 200 billion rupiah civil lawsuit filed by the Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman against Tempo, which is seen as a form of silencing the media and a threat to democracy.

Jakarta – Protesters from a number of labour union federations affiliated with the Indonesian Trade Union Congress Alliance (KASBI) complained about mass layoffs (PHK) during an audience with the House of Representatives' (DPR) Public Aspirations Agency (BAM) in Jakarta on Thursday November 6.

The audience was held at the same time as a protest action by the trade unions at the parliamentary complex.

Jakarta – Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has stated that the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharto, has never been proven to have been involved in the massacre of people accused of being affiliated with the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) following the 1965 September 30 Movement (G30S) affair.

Zon also questioned the evidence for the accusations of genocide in 1965-66 directed at Suharto.
