Walhi urges police to release two activists arbitrarily arrested in Semarang

Iwan Arifianto, Semarang – The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) is urging the police to release two activists from Semarang, Adetya Pramandira alias Dera and Fathul Munif, who were arrested by police on Thursday morning November 27.

Pramandira is a Walhi Central Java advocacy and community organising staff member while Munif is an activist with the Kamisan (Thursday) Action movement in Semarang.

Responding to the arbitrary arrest of two activists in Semarang, Adetya Pramandira and Fathul Munif, Amnesty International Indonesia's Executive Director Usman Hamid said:

"These arrests demonstrate that the narrative of National Police (Polri) reform, which it is said the President is accelerating, is just a fabrication. This is evidence of the continued criminalisation of activists following the August 2025 demonstrations. We strongly condemn these authoritarian practices.
Amnesty urges full investigation into fatal drone attack on civilians in Papua

Jayapura – Amnesty International Indonesia is calling for a thorough investigation into a fatal drone attack in Dekai city, the capital of Yahukimo regency, in the Papua Highlands.

Amnesty International Indonesia's Executive Director Usman Hamid said that they condemn the attack on Tuesday evening November 25, which killed one civilian and injured one other person.
Environmental activists urge police to issue anti-SLAPP regulation

Jakarta – Indonesian Centre for Environmental Law (ICEL) Executive Director Raynaldo G. Sembiring is urging the National Police (Polri) to establish a National Police Regulation (Perkap) on the protection of environmental activists.

Sembiring conveyed this after holding a hearing with the Committee for the Acceleration of National Police Reform at the Ministry of State Secretariat in Jakarta on Wednesday November 26.
