YLBHI Press Release – March 5, 2026
On March 1 the Civil Society Coalition launched a petition rejecting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's foreign policy positions starting from the recent Reciprocal Trade Agreement (RTA) between the US and Indonesia, Indonesia's involvement in the Board of Peace (BoP) and plans to send the Indonesian Military (TNI) to Gaza, as well as the US and Israel's attacks on Iran.

The YLBHI also expressed its rejection of the absence of space for community participation in Prabowo's decision to agree to these policies.

Jakarta – United Nations (UN) special rapporteurs have issued a warning to the government of the Republic of Indonesia regarding the Draft Presidential Regulation (Ranperpres) on the role of the Indonesian Military (TNI) in combating terrorism.

An official letter of communication was delivered on February 20 highlighting concerns over the expansion of the military's role which is seen as excessive and poses a risk to human rights (HAM).

Tria Sutrisna, Danu Damarjati, Jakarta – The coordinator of the National Network for Domestic Worker Advocacy (JALA PRT), Lita Anggraini, is asking for the completion of the Draft Law on the Protection of Domestic Workers (RUU PPRT) to be accelerated immediately, considering that President Prabowo Subianto promised to finish the law within three months.

"So it's no longer a delay because Pak [Mr] Prabowo's promise was three months, it's been almost a year since that promise. So this [law] is a form of the state's presence to protect domestic workers", said Anggraini at the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta on Thursday March 5.

As reported by the Faktanasional (National Facts) website on Tuesday, the action was attended by at least seven organisations that expressed their official stance in the capital's public spaces.
