Larius Kogoya, Nabire – President Prabowo Subianto's granting of amnesty to Papuan political prisoner (tapol) Viktor Makamuke ahead of the Republic of Indonesia's 80th Anniversary is seen as image building and a pubic deception.

This was conveyed to Jubi via a telephone call in Nabire, Central Papua, on Friday August 8 by Democratic Alliance for Papua (ALDP) Director Anum Siregar.

Nabiila Azzahra, Linda Trianita – Protesters who took part in International Labour Day or May Day rallies earlier this year are now being intimidated by unknown individuals.

The intimidation has targeted 14 protesters who were arrested and later named suspects by the Metro Jaya Jakarta Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) following a labour demonstration in front of the parliament building on in Central Jakarta on May 1.

"This flag is a criticism of the government today, that there are still many problems that have not been resolved", said UNM Student President Samry during a demonstration to reject the Draft Criminal Procedural Code (RKUHAP) at the AP Pettarani Fly Over in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Tuesday August 5.

He once took steps that were considered brave and different in responding to the raising of flags other than the red-and-white national flag.

Gus Dur's attitude was different from the current government, where he allowed the raising of the Morning Star flag. This attitude reflects Gus Dur's approach which was more humanist and cultural rather than a military approach or one of power that has often been used by governments before and afterwards.
