Jakarta – The civil society organisation Indonesian Human Rights Watch (Imparsial) says the resignation of Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo as the head of the Indonesian Military's (TNI) Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) is a manoeuvre to protect the intellectual actor behind the pre-mediated murder attempt on Andrie Yunus.

Imparsial Director Ardi Manto Adiputra suspects the TNI is washing its hands of the of the matter in order to quell public outcry over the acid attack on the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) activist, which allegedly involved BAIS members.

Nicholas Ryan Aditya, Nawir Arsyad Akbar, Jakarta – The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) believes that the alleged involvement of members of the Indonesian Military's (TNI) Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in the acid attack on Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) activist Andrie Yunus constitutes a serious violation of military intelligence functions.

Fadhil Alfathan, a TAUD representative from the Jakarta Legal Aid Foundation (LBH Jakarta), stated that the information provided by the TNI's Military Police Headquarters (Puspom) regarding the four suspected perpetrators from BAIS indicates a deviation from the agency's intended functions.

Jayapura – The West Papua National Committee (KNPB) central management has stated that the terror attack that occurred at the KNPB central secretariat in Kampwolker, Waena, Jayapura city, Papua, was part of a widespread pattern of intimidation against activists and civil liberties.

The incident, which is suspected to be an exploding bomb, occurred in the early hours of Monday March 16 after an object was dropped using a drone in the yard of the KNPB secretariat.
TNI soldiers involved in acid attack must be tried in civil court: Coalition

Shela Octavia, Nawir Arsyad Akbar, Jakarta – The Civil Society Coalition is calling for the four soldiers suspected of throwing acid on human rights activist Andrie Yunus to be prosecuted in a general court, not a military court.

"The Civil Society Coalition is urging that the four suspects be criminally prosecuted through the general justice system, so that transparency and accountability can be guaranteed", said the Coalition in an official statement received by Kompas.com on Wednesday March 18.
