Nicholas Ryan Aditya, Jessi Carina, Jakarta – Environmental activist and Greenpeace Indonesia Forest Campaigner, Iqbal Damanik, has reported the recent terror and threats he experienced to the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim Polri).

In the report, Damanik handed over a headless chicken carcass along with a hand written threatening message as evidence.

"We handed over the dead chicken carcass along with the threatening message", said Damanik at the Polri Bareskrim building in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon January 14.

Damanik said that he experienced the terror attack on December 30, 2025. At that time, he received the delivery of a headless chicken carcass accompanied by a piece of paper containing a threat.

"Inside there was a message that read more or less, 'Watch your mouth if you want your family to be safe', then sow your mouth shut", explained Damanik.

He suspects that the terror is related to the advocacy activities and critical remarks he has made with Greenpeace Indonesia, especially regarding environmental and energy issues.

"We consider this not only to be spreading fear among people and organisations who speak critically for the good of the nation and state, so we took the initiative to report it to the police", he said.

According to Damanik, the police report was made so that this kind of terror would not continue to reoccur and cause fear among activists and social media activists in Indonesia.

The report was received by the Bareskrim Polri General Crimes Director as Number LP/B/20/I/2026/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI dated January 14, 2026.

Damanik reported the alleged criminal act as a written threat with certain conditions as regulated under Article 449 paragraph (2) of Law Number 1/2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP).

In addition to Damanik, a report was also made by a content creator named Yansen, who is known on social media as Pitengz or Oposipit.

Yansen said that he experienced a series of terror attacks, starting from the hacking of his WhatsApp account to threats against his family.

"There is evidence from a WhatsApp account that could not be accessed again after the SIM card was hacked. Secondly, there were photos in which my sister's photo was made into indecent things", said Yansen.

"Then there is also evidence of conversations where an unknown person accessed my mother's WhatsApp and asked where I was in the family group", he continued.

Yansen said that the terror was accompanied by demands that he delete content he had uploaded over the last month, especially content that discussed the flood and landslide disaster in Sumatra.

Yansen reported the incidents as an alleged violation of Article 332 paragraph (1) of the KUHP as adjusted to Article 332 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1/2026 on Criminal Adjustments, as well as Article 30 paragraph (1) of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law (UU ITE) on illegal access.
