Ali Mustofa, Denpasar – An International Labour Day demonstration in the Balinese provincial capital of Denpasar, which fell on Monday May 1, ended in chaos after a clash between Papuan students and several social organisations.

Moh. Kadafi – Seven students were secured by Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officials for holding a demonstration opposing the G20 Summit in Bali on Tuesday November 15. The students are understood to be from the Udayana University (Unud) in Bali and held a peaceful action on Jalan Sudirman in the provincial capital of Denpasar.

Chandra Iswinarno – Repressive acts have again been committed by police, this time it targeted the residents of the Kalasey Dua Village in Minahasa, North Sulawesi, on Monday November 7. The incident was also marred by violent arrests, the firing of teargas and verbal abuse against residents.

Jakarta – The Kendari municipal police along with the Kendari municipal government in South-East Sulawesi have prepared free busses to take children to school while public transport mini-busses (angkot) are on a mass strike over the recent fuel (BBM) price hike.

Makassar – The South Sulawesi branch of Indonesia's peak Islamic body the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) believes that the Makassar Fashion Week phenomena has the potential to damage the younger generation's morals because the clothing worn is not in accordance with Islamic law (syariat Islam).

Jakarta – A number of murals and graffiti with a critical tone on walls in busy locations have been removed recently. The aggressive removal of the critical murals has largely been done by regional officials and police in their respective areas.

Jakarta – Jakarta State University (UNJ) sociologist Ubedilah Badrun has criticised the actions of authorities in removing murals containing social criticisms of the government such as a mural depicting President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo with the message "404: Not Found" in Tangerang and a mural reading "Forced to be well in a country that is sick"

Jakarta – The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) says that 90 journalists were victims of violence over the last year with most of the alleged perpetrators being police.

Surabaya – Police broke up an International Women's Day (IWD) action by the Women's Movement with the People (Gempur) Alliance in Malang, East Java on Monday. A number of protesters were also arrested by police because of the chaos that ensued when they tried to disperse the crowd.

Pradito Rida Pertana, Yogyakarta – Protesters calling themselves the People's Struggle Front (FPR) held an action commemorating International Women's Day (IWD) today in front of the governor's office in the Central Java city of Yogyakarta. The action however was marred by an altercation between the protesters and local people.

Agus Rahmat, Dani Randi (Banda Aceh) – Officials from the Banda Aceh municipal Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Wilayatul Hisbah (Sharia police, WH) have sealed off a hotel in the Batoh area for frequent violations of Islamic law. The hotel was also sealed off because its operational license expired in 2018.
