Musmaulana – The North Maluku Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) has condemned the actions and methods used by intelligence officers suspected of being from the North Maluku Regional Police (Polda) paramilitary Mobile Brigade (Brimob).

As has been reported, Walhi North Maluku held a rally to protest the screening and discussion of the documentary film titled Yang Mengalir di Kawasi (What Flows in Kawasi) which was shown at the Cinema XXI in the Jatiland Mall in Ternate, North Maluku, on Monday July 15. The environmental activists unfurled a banner during the event with the words "What Flows in Kawasi is a Disaster".

Jakarta – The Civil Society Coalition has strongly condemned the legislation process related to changes or revisions to the Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP) which are still considered problematic, both in terms of substance and the process its preparation.

The coalition also held a protest action in front of the parliament building in Jakarta demanding that the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III hold a debate or an audience with them there on Monday July 14.

More than 100 human rights defenders experienced various forms of attacks in the first half of 2025 said Amnesty International Indonesia today in Jakarta. Between January and June 2025, Amnesty International noted that at least 104 human rights defenders became victims of attacks recorded in 54 cases.

More than half of the victims of the attacks on human rights defenders in the first half of 2025 occurred against indigenous community members fighting for their rights to land and also journalists who were attacked because of their journalistic work, 36 indigenous community members and 31 journalists respectively.

Jayapura, Jubi – The Yahukimo regency District Police (Polres) in Papua Highlands province released four activists from the Yahukimo regional West Papua National Committee (KNPB) on Monday afternoon July 14. The four KNPB activists underwent questioning and had been detained at the Yahukimo District Police (Polres) station since Sunday July 13.

Yahukimo District Police chief Assistant Superintendent Zet Zaalino stated that after conducting an in-depth investigation into alleged unlawful acts, no evidence was found that the four men had committed any unlawful acts so they were sent home.
