Activists are urging the government to abandon a planned tax amnesty, which is supposed to bolster flagging state revenues, and focus instead on law enforcement saying a similar scheme in 1984 failed and it will in effect just reward the rich for not paying tax. Indonesia currently holds 7th position among countries with highest quantities of black money with estimated overseas wealth that has been accumulating since the 1970s exceeding the country's GDP of US$988 billion.
