Debbie Sutrisno, Bandung – Scores of students from various universities in Bandung held a protest action at the West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) building on Friday May 1. They took to the streets to commemorate International Workers' Day.

On this year's May Day in Bandung, it was not workers that took to the streets to convey their aspirations, but rather it was students. They arrived at the Gedung Sate (governor's office) area at around 4.30 pm wearing alma mater jackets and one by one, participants began delivering speeches.

Hilman Kamaludin, Bandung – The commemoration of International Labour Day or May Day was marred by rioting by a group of people dressed in black at the Tamansari-Cikapayang intersection in Bandung city on Friday evening May 1.

Based Tribun Jabar's monitoring, a number of people appeared determined to set fire to police posts, videotrons and kiosks that were close together until finally the flames were extinguished by Bandung city fire department (Damkar) officers who deployed three fire trucks.

Hani Sofia Muthmainnah, Denpasar – Wages that do not meet the needs of a decent living were highlighted during the commemoration of International Labour Day (May Day) 2026 in Bali. Although they did not take to the streets, trade unions remain committed to fighting for an increase in wages for workers.

Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI) Bali Regional Leadership Board (DPD) Chairperson Wayan Mandra said that the current wages in Bali are still far from the figure for the Reasonable Living Cost Index (KHL).

Indra Wijaya, Banda Aceh – Hundreds of workers who are members of the Aceh Labour Alliance (ABA) held a convoy on Friday May 1 from the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque (MRB) via the Aceh Provincial Legislative Council (DPRA) and ending at the Aceh governor's office.

They action was held to commemorate International Labor Day or May Day 2026. The workers had gathered at the MRB since 8.30 am and began the convoy of two- and four-wheeled vehicles at 9.30 am.
