Jakarta – The Labour Movement with the People (Gebrak) Alliance, which is made up of labour, farmer, student and women’s organisations, will again take to the streets on August 14-16 demanding the cancellation of the Draft Omnibus Law on Job Creation.

Jakarta – Representatives of demonstrators who held a protest action against the Draft Omnibus Law on Job Creation said they were disappointed after meeting with leaders from the House of Representatives (DPR) at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, late on Thursday July 16.

Surabaya – Thousands of protesters from the Movement Alliance Against the Omnibus Law (Getol) packed Jl Pahlawan in the East Java provincial capital of Surabaya on Thursday July 16. Roads in the vicinity of the rally have been closed off since earlier this afternoon.

Yogyakarta – Protesting workers in the Central Java city of Yogyakarta held an action on Thursday July 16 opposing the House of Representatives’ (DPR) deliberations on the Draft Omnibus Law on Job Creation. They also called on Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengkubowono X to send a letter to the DPR.

Jakarta – The Mining Advocacy Network (Jatam) is urging President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to temporarily halt operations by mining companies around the country which they believe are neglecting workers’ safety in the midst of the corona pandemic (Covid-19).

Jakarta – Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Chairperson Asfinawati says that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s decision to postpone the deliberations on the sections of the Draft Omnibus Law on Job Creation related to labour will not actually stop the all encompassing law from going ahead.

Jakarta – In the midst of the corona virus pandemic, tens of thousands of workers from the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) and the Indonesian Labour Council (MPBI) claim they will take to the streets to hold an action on April 30 in the lead up to International Labour Day or May Day which falls on May 1.
