Jakarta – Protests against the Omnibus Law on Job Creation have again heated up in several parts of country on Thursday October 8. Actions at regional administrative centres have been joined by thousands of people from university and high-school students to workers.

Padang – The Jakarta Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) and the Legal Aid Institute for the Press (LBH Pers) are calling on the national police (Polri) to fully investigate the violence committed by police against journalists covering the protest actions against the recently enacted Omnibus Law on Job Creation on Thursday October 8.

Jakarta – The House of Representatives (DPR) officially passed the Draft Omnibus Law on Job Creation into law during a plenary meeting on Monday October 5. The House accelerated the scheduled ratification – which had been planned for October 8 – on the grounds that the number of Covid-19 cases is continuing to rise.
